Tiered Seating for Offices: A New, Hip Way to Work

The vast majority of theaters, arenas, and auditoriums use tiered seating. The benefit is obvious. It allows a ton of people to sit, move, and view a focal point while enabling a few to hold the attention of many. It’s perfect for those places.

But can tiered seating be used in the office?

Surprisingly, it can work exceedingly well.

Space is always a problem for offices. People and things can collect swiftly and overwhelm existing room. Unfortunately, extending the space is space is expensive.  But if more people can be packed into one room then there’s no problem. This is exactly what tiered seating solves. Offices in Silicon Valley are already doing this. Since their employees are mobile and use laptops and smartphones for work, they can easily take advantage of tiered seating by plopping down in a comfortable spot and starting their task.

Many workers love tiered seating because it enables them to do things in interesting ways. They love collaborating on these seats because people can sit side-by-side or behind the person and see what the other is doing. The long seating also allows them to lie down during a break or after an all-nighter.

Tiered seating areas also save space because they can be easily repurposed for different things. It’s a great place to hold a brainstorming session, a town hall, or a meeting presentation. There’s no need to get another room.

But aside from their usefulness, tiered seating areas look great too. They break up the horizontal space by introducing vertical lines. They also create an informal atmosphere that can help people think more creatively, and that is loved by younger workforces. In brands that pride themselves in design, exuberance, or simply looking good, they’re an awesome addition to the office.

Regular offices aren’t the only ones that benefit from tiered seating. Coworking spaces can readily use tiered spaces to offer an additional reason for businesses and entrepreneurs to use their rooms. Buildings can even incorporate them into their stairs to maximize the space.

Tiered seating has become a new trend for offices. It can change the way your employees use office space and make the company look good too.
