The Philippines celebrate the world’s longest Christmas season. Officially, it begins when the bells toll for Simbang Gabi on December 16 and ends Feast of the Epiphany on the first Sunday of January. But it seems even longer because decorations and Christmas songs can be seen and heard as early as September 1. The “Ber” months, the long countdown for Christmas day, are known for their great number of sales events. During this time, the competition for customers can be incredibly fierce as businesses start decorating and extending their working hours. Here’s what you should do to become competitive.
1. Plan Ahead of Time
2. Store Blockbuster Items
3. Prepare Point-of-Purchase (POP) Displays
Creative signage and displays are essential. A study conducted by Brigham Young University claims that POP displays such as custom display racks, emboss, and display modules increase sales of featured items by 20%. These displays are your silent but very effective sales team.
4. Store Decorations Matter
There is something about the cheerful feeling that comes to customers when they notice your store decorations. Business gets better. That’s why you should arrange your products and embellish your store to entice people to step inside and glance around.
5. Guide Your Staff
On top of planning and decorations, train your staff to share the spirit of the holidays as well as the mission and values of your store. A strong, well-prepared team will boost your sales.
While we didn’t include it in our list, wearing comfortable outfits during sales event will give you more energy for work.
Prepare your stock, your decorations, and your store; and you’ll become a winner in the competitive holiday season!
